Leigh Centurions head Paul Rowley is looking forward to the challenge of the Qualifiers

Paul Rowley has warned that his Leigh Centurions side are relishing the prospect of taking on Super League teams in the Qualifiers section of the Super 8s.

Leigh will take on Super League’s Widnes Vikings, Hull KR, Salford Red Devils and Wakefield Wildcats as well as three fellow Championship sides in their attempt to win a place in the top flight next season.

And head coach Rowley has promised that despite the change in opposition his side will not stray from their usual attacking style.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "It’s what we have all been aiming for. We have been consistent for two years and I hope the players can do themselves justice and maintain that consistency and perform to the standards that they have set throughout the last two years not just this year.

"It's Hull KR first game and we are all excited about it.

"We like to play, we like to have fun, I guess that’s when people keep saying 'is there pressure on you, do you feel the pressure?'

"I think the brand that we play just suggests and explains we don’t really feel the pressure because we like to have fun. They are quite brave and daring in thin their approach to the game so we will continue to do that.

He added: "It’s an entertainment business and we want to entertain and that’s evident in the support we are getting down at Leigh."

Rowley is also keen for his side to take courage from their impressive Challenge Cup run, in which Leigh dumped out Salford and Wakefield, before narrowly missing out on a semi-final spot at the hands of Warrington.

The Super 8s has arrived, as some teams battle for promotion, whilst others battle for the Super League title

He said: "We took a lot of belief from that and then we finally bowed down to Warrington but we learnt so much from that and that set us in good stead for the standards we need to achieve."

Rowley added: "Seven weeks in a row, it is almost seven cup finals one week after another. Like I said Hull KR come to us, it will be a difficult challenge but we are very excited about it.

"You’re never a Super League club until you have earned the right to be in there and that’s what we intend to do or endeavour to do. We will try our best and we will make it exciting."
