England prop Mike Cooper has signed a contract extension with Warrington Wolves that will keep him at the club until November 2020.

The 29-year-old is in his second stint with the Wolves having started his career there before spending time in Australia's NRL with St George Illawarra.

He re-signed for his hometown club in 2017 and looks set to significantly build upon his 172 appearances.

Wolves coach Steve Price said: "Mike's still got a lot of good years ahead of him. The players love playing with him so it was an easy one.

"I was the one who got Mike over to Australia. I know what he's about. He's been first class.

Warrington coach Steve Price praised his side's 'character and resilience' following their 33-22 victory at Leeds.

Before that, the Wolves take on Toronto Wolfpack on Saturday as they look to extend an eight-game winning run.

"I'm really happy to be staying," Cooper said. "At this stage in my career I'm not looking to go anywhere else. I've been coached by Pricey before at St George and I'm enjoying working with him again.

"We've never had as tight a group of players as we have now. The positivity around the camp is brilliant. We've created a tough steel behind the club and are going about everything in the right way."
