Tomkins picked for third straight year, no Leeds players in line-up

Steve Menzies has been rewarded for an excellent year at the Catalan Dragons with a place in the 2011 Engage Super League Dream Team. The Australia international, who turns 38 in December, is one of six new faces picked by a panel of rugby league journalists. Menzies has recently signed a new contract with the French club for 2012 that will make him the oldest player ever to appear in Super League. He is joined in the line-up by fellow Dragon Scott Dureau, while overseas players Rangi Chase (Castleford) and Joel Monaghan (Warrington) have also been chosen. "It's obviously great being recognised," Menzies said at the team's unveiling at Old Trafford. "I've been really happy with the way I've played this year. Personally I think it's been my best season since coming to the UK."

Homegrown stars

There is still a strong English presence though, with Hull duo Tom Briscoe and Kirk Yeaman, who last appeared in a Dream Team five years ago, included. Warrington, Wigan and St Helens - who finished first, second and third in the regular season respectively - provide nine of the 13 players, but Leeds have no representation for the first time since 1998. Warriors full-back Sam Tomkins makes his third successive appearance, having previously been selected at stand-off in 2009 and 2010. Super League Dream Team for 2011:Sam Tomkins (Wigan); Tom Briscoe (Hull), Kirk Yeaman (Hull), George Carmont (Wigan), Joel Monaghan (Warrington); Rangi Chase (Castleford), Scott Dureau (Catalan); James Graham (St Helens), James Roby (St Helens), Gareth Carvell (Warrington), Ben Westwood (Warrington), Steve Menzies (Catalan), Sean O'Loughlin (Wigan).
