Wigan have, as expected, opted to face reigning champions Leeds in the semi-finals of the Super League play-offs.
The Warriors had the choice between the Rhinos and Warrington under the 'Clubcall' system, with the top-ranked team left standing deciding who they would host in the last four.
Warrington will now take on St Helens in the other semi-final; the two teams have already met once in the play-offs this year, Saints coming out on top at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in the battle between second and third.
Wigan's selection of Leeds hardly comes as a surprise - Brian McDermott's side are the lowest-placed side still standing having finished the regular season in fifth place, the same position they lifted the trophy from last year.
Leeds lost home and away to the Cherry and Whites in league action, however they did topple their next opponents in the semi-finals of the Carnegie Challenge Cup to reach Wembley.
They also know just what it takes to defy the odds in the play-offs - they were picked by the Wolves last year but caused an upset on their way to winning the Grand Final.
History
"What happened last year is history," McDermott told
Sky Sports. "It does prove that it can be done from outside the top two or three, and if we are going to do it again then we're going to have to re-create our own history.
"From where we have been in the league this year, we will need to do something special to win the Grand Final.
"We've just had a good performance against Catalan and we needed that. Should we got to Wigan and beat them it will be one of our best performances of the year."
St Helens will have home advantage as they bid to reach Old Trafford for an astonishing seventh successive season. They have not, though, lifted the trophy since beating Hull back in 2006.
The decision by Wigan also means there remains the possibility of Leeds and Saints meeting in the Grand Final for the sixth time in the past seven years.
