Warrington prop Ashton Sims has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until at least the end of 2017.

The 30-year-old Fiji international joined Wolves on a two-year deal from North Queensland Cowboys 12 months ago and has now been given a one-year extension.

Warrington coach Tony Smith said: "He's an inspirational leader and has proved to be an integral part of the team both on and off the field.

"Ashton has shown a real passion for Warrington and it's great that he's focused on this team and our success right though to 2017."

Warrington have also taken up options for next season on home-grown forward Joe Philbin and former St Helens utility back Gary Wheeler.

The majority of the Wolves team will report back for pre-season training next Monday, the exceptions being the club's overseas players and England squad members Ben Currie, Chris Hill and Ben Westwood.
