The Wolves are back in Manchester 12 months after their 26-18 defeat to the Leeds Rhinos, which was their first trip to Old Trafford since the inception of the play-offs.
Smith has been happy with Warrington's preparation ahead of the big game and he feels there is more of a resolve about his charges in comparison to last year's loss.
"We're pretty relaxed at the moment, we've had a good build up," Smith told Sky Sports. "Training has gone well and everything is coming together nicely.
"Sometimes in these games you can just be happy to be there and be part of it. I just sense a different feel this time. Everybody is still excited and very proud to be here, but it seems a little bit more determination to go and do the job."
The Challenge Cup final flattered to deceive in August when Wigan ran out 16-0 winners over Hull FC and Smith hopes the Grand Final will live up to the five-star billing.
"I know it's going to be a terrific game here between two very, very good teams," he continued. "They are both going to be well supported on the night. Both are worthy teams of being in the Grand Final.
"Hopefully the weather will stay good so we can get the maximum entertainment value out of the game. I think it is important that it's a really good game of rugby league.
"We've had a final this year that didn't quite didn't live up to the occasion. Hopefully this game will and both teams can play as well as they possibly can."
