The 26-year-old has played a key role in helping The Bati to the semi-finals - scoring against England at Hull's KC Stadium in the group stages.
His displays and that one in particular have caught the eye of new Airlie Birds coach Lee Radford and a deal is reportedly close to being completed.
The former Balmain Tigers junior played for Toulouse earlier this year before ending the season with Central Coast team the Wyong Roos, but headed to England in order to try and secure a full-time contract for 2014.
"I've had a few chats with a few clubs. I have a few different options I want to take up," he told the matchday programme for Wembley's semi-finals.
"My life goal was to play in the NRL, so if I have to play Super League first, then that's what I've got to do."
Vunakece would become Radford's eighth signing for next season and more could follow.
The club have given a trial to United States winger Taylor Welch while it is understood experienced half-back Ryan McGoldrick is another target after his release from Salford.
