Super League: Lee Radford was pleased after Hull FC beat London Broncos

Coach Lee Radford hailed a professional performance as Hull FC claimed a 40-4 win over London Broncos on Easter Monday.

Last Updated: 21/04/14 6:24pm

The Black and Whites were beaten 46 seconds shy of the final buzzer in Thursday's derby against Hull KR and spent most of the weekend recovering from that bruising affair.

As a result, Radford was just pleased to get over the line and pick up two points against a winless London side who rarely threatened.

"I thought it was a professional performance as it's been hard to get back up from the canvas from Thursday," he said.

"It was a professional performance as the tempo was right and I thought we dictated the play well.

"We said before the game the first error we made would be heckled, if we missed out first kick the crowd would have been on our back because of Thursday, so we had to try and create our own atmosphere.

"You could hear a pin drop at times, so we had to create an atmosphere with our performance. We are stinging from Thursday so we wanted to respond with a performance."

Jordan Rankin and Jamie Shaul each scored twice as Hull ran in seven tries and Radford's men will now have a fortnight to reflect on the Easter programme, with their Challenge Cup campaign having already ended.

"I told the players we would get our heads off the pillow on Tuesday and wonder what had gone on or look at the league table and see where we are," he added.

"We have 14 days now, a two-week turnaround to assess and see where we are."

Courageous

London coach Tony Rea refused to be too down on his players, who also lost to the Catalans on Thursday.

"We did some decent things and we are courageous," Rea said.

"I think we're fine and I think we're closer than we were on Thursday We probably didn't play the conditions and the wetness the way we did, but fair play to Hull for handling it better than us.

"But we're okay, we're fine. We've had an error-riddled Easter, but we're fine and confidence isn't an issue."
