Hull have handed new contracts to veteran centre Kirk Yeaman and his likely successor Jack Logan.

Yeaman, 32, who is third highest try-scorer in the Super League club's history with 167 touchdowns, has signed a new 12-month deal while 20-year-old Logan has extended his contract to the end of the 2019 season.

Logan has started eight of the last nine matches for the Black and Whites as Yeaman, who he describes as his mentor, has been out injured.

"If I have anywhere near the career Kirk has had so far, I will be extremely happy," Logan said. "His record speaks for itself and for a young centre from Hull, he is the perfect person to look up to.

"He helps me out massively. I wouldn't be half the player I am today without Kirk mentoring me.

"It's an honour to play for Hull having followed them throughout my childhood and I'm happy to have signed a new deal.

"I now want to secure my place in the first team for next year and continue to make the starting line-up."

Hull coach Lee Radford said: "Jack has shown since he has been in the first team that he has a natural ability to break the line and he's got the energy to be there when somebody else does.

"The challenge was laid down to him when we got a number of injuries to fill the gap.

"Now he needs to finish this year well and get a good pre-season under his belt."

Yeaman, who made his debut in 2001 and represented England and Great Britain at the height of his career, said: "I'm delighted to be here at the club I love for another year, there's no other club for me.

"I'm enjoying my rugby and having to adapt my game which has given me a renewed focus and something I'm really excited about."

Logan could get the opportunity of an extended first-team run next year with Radford planning to switch Yeaman into the back row for his 16th season with the club.

"That is something I'm looking forward to and a position I think will suit me and my style of play," Yeaman said.

"It doesn't matter where I play, as long as I'm pulling on the black and white shirt. It's a proud moment every time I do that and something I will always cherish."
