Jimmy Keinhorst has signed a new three-year contract with Leeds Rhinos.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 11 tries in 33 appearances for the Super League champions, joins Zak Hardaker, Danny McGuire and Stevie Ward in extending his stay at Headingley.

"Last season was an incredible season for the club and everyone is excited about the future," said Keinhorst, who has also been promoted from 20 to 18 in the squad numbers for the new season.

"I am pleased to have my future sorted now and can look forward to the next three years with confidence.

"I have learned so much over the last four years since making my debut but I know that I need to keep working hard.

"The competition is going to be even tougher next season and I am looking forward to having a big pre-season to help the team reach our goals again."

Keinhorst had struggled to establish himself at Leeds before the 2015 season but he thrived after moving from centre to the back row.

The Leeds-born Germany international suffered the disappointment of missing out on the Challenge Cup final, but bounced back to lay on the winning try for Josh Walters in the Grand Final.

"Jimmy thoroughly deserves his new deal and his elevation in the squad numbers is recognition of the work he has put in over the last few seasons," said Rhinos head coach Brian McDermott.

"He is a perfect example of how the dual-registration system should work. Two years ago he developed massively on loan at Hunslet and it was Barry Eaton who suggested moving him to the forwards this season. He naturally slotted into that position with the qualities Jimmy has in his game.

"I am sure he will continue to progress over the next few years and I am looking forward to working with him to help him achieve his potential."
