The England Knight man has slipped down the pecking order at the Rhinos and is yet to feature in their first three Super League games following the close-season addition of Tom Briscoe.
Agar has confirmed he has made an approach to Leeds and is now waiting to see whether the club given them the green light to bring in the talent on a loan basis.
The Wildcats boss told the YEP: "We have inquired about his availability as a loanee and it's down to Ben and Leeds as to whether they think it's a worthwhile move. I've asked Brian and we've done it at board level."
Earlier in the week McDermott confirmed interest had been gathering in Jones-Bishop: "There has been plenty of speculation about Ben because he has is an outstanding, international class player and, at the moment, he is not getting a start with us.
"There have been other clubs who have enquired about him over the last two weeks but he remains with us and we will make some decisions for his benefit and the team in the coming weeks."
Meanwhile, one player who is at Wakefield on loan from Leeds is young winger Luke Briscoe and he will continue to remain at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium after the deal was extended.
