Veteran Huddersfield half-back Danny Brough says he wants to play for as long as he can after signing a 12-month contract extension.
The 35-year-old former Scotland captain's five-year deal was due to run out at the end of the season but he will play on in 2018 for the Giants after becoming the fifth player to sign a new contract.
Brough ended 2017 in disgrace after being sent home from the World Cup for being too drunk to board a plane but he has started the new season impressively for his club.
He kicked six goals in Huddersfield's 28-16 win over Widnes on Friday to climb above Sean Long into seventh place on the Super League all-time top points scorers list with 2,203 and remains key to Giants coach Rick Stone's plans.
"It's great to have Danny sign an extension with the club," Stone said. "He's a big part of our team and what he does for us is invaluable so it's a good decision by all for him to have this contract extension.
"He's got a wealth of experience and his knowledge of the game is terrific and it's important that he can pass on as much of that as he can to the younger blokes.
"He's really important to the team. His effort and his competitiveness are terrific and his kicking game is as good as anyone else's in the game which adds so much to our team.
"One thing about him is that he is still going strong and we wouldn't sign him on if we didn't think this was going to continue to be the case."
Brough's 12-point haul against the Vikings took his total to more than 1,600 points in 221 appearances for Huddersfield since joining them from Wakefield in 2010, and he is happy to sign a new contract.
"It's always nice to know where your future lies," he said. "It was an easy decision to make to stay here.
"I'm really pleased to have signed the contract and, having seen so many others sign on with the club, I knew this is where I wanted to be.
"After signing the extension, I just want to keep on playing as long as I can and make sure that I'm playing the best rugby that I can."
Huddersfield have also tied up Oliver Roberts, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Paul Clough and Sam Wood on new deals.
