Ambitious Featherstone Rovers have confirmed they have failed in a bid for Huddersfield Giants trio Eorl Crabtree, Danny Brough and Brett Ferres.
Brough is Super League’s current Man of Steel after helping the Giants win the League Leaders’ Shield last season, while Crabtree is a regular in Paul Anderson’s line-up.
Ferres, formerly of Bradford, Wakefield and Castleford, is one of the best at keeping the ball alive. The 28-year-old also played his part as England reached the semi-final of last year’s World Cup.
The club can confirm that Huddersfield have rejected a treble transfer offer for Crabtree, Ferres and Brough and no further approach will be made.
“The club can confirm that Huddersfield have rejected a treble transfer offer for Crabtree, Ferres and Brough and no further approach will be made,” read a statement on Featherstone’s official website.
Backed by the club’s majority shareholder Feisal Nahaboo, the Kingstone Press Championship side are pushing for a Super League place next season and signalled their intent by landing Wakefield Harry Siejka.
However, the club have denied they have agreed a deal with Hull FC’s Jay Pitts, who is currently on loan at Bradford Bulls, for the 2015 season.
“The club refuses at this stage to comment on newspaper reports that Hull FC second row star Jay Pitts has agreed terms to join the club next year,” the statement continued.
