Huddersfield have rewarded teenage full-back Jared Simpson for his impressive start to his Super League career with a full-time contract.

The 19-year-old son of former Bradford utility back Roger Simpson, who helped the Giants to wins in his first four Super League matches, will join coach Paul Anderson's 2016 squad with a two-year contract extension.

Anderson said: "Jared deserves the opportunity to stay around longer and go into the top squad with immediate effect.

"Everyone has seen with his performances over the past few weeks in Super League the potential that the coaches here have known was in him.

"He is a tremendous example of a youngster who has taken an opportunity that presented itself to him. He now has the challenge next year of being out of the academy and in with men week in week out which will take a toll at some point.

"It means he needs to have a good off season and learn the realities of professional life on and off the field."

It has been a stunning rise for Simpson who has come through the junior system with the Giants.

Simpson said: "It's been a whirlwind month or so for me making the step into Super League and I've now achieved my goal from the start of the year which was to get a full-time deal and stay at the club."
