Bradford Bulls could be saved from extinction with administrators considering an offer to buy the club, according to Sky sources.
As many as a dozen parties have shown interest in the former Super League and world club champions.
Sky Sports News HQ understands that administrators are now considering the details of an offer from one remaining bidder.
A statement on whether the deal has been accepted is expected later today.
The Yorkshire club entered administration in November for the third time in four years to fight off a winding-up petition brought by HM Revenue and Customs.
Joint administrator Gary Petitt has put back his own deadline several times for offers for the stricken club and the Rugby Football League has been involved in the latest talks.
An RFL spokesman confirmed yesterday that members of the governing body's executive and welfare team addressed the Bulls players and staff on Thursday to update them.
"The RFL was able to disclose that following positive and detailed discussions, an interested consortium is considering bidding for the Bradford Bulls, and that the consortium now has all the information needed to make a decision on whether it will make a formal offer for the club," the spokesman said.
