The West Yorkshire club finished level on points with bottom-of-the-table Widnes Vikings last season, while they also exited the Challenge Cup to lower league Featherstone Rovers.
Chase was linked with a move to Hull FC, however, the England international remains at the Wish Communications Stadium and is pleased with how things worked out.
"I'm glad I'm here. It couldn't have worked out any better," he told Sky Sports. "I just can't wait to get the season going.
"I want to be consistently playing good footy, get some form back and be fit. I want to be on the park all the time. For me it's about keeping myself fit, doing all the little things I need to do and start getting some performances together."
Champions Leeds Rhinos have shown in the past two seasons that teams can win silverware without a top-four finish and Chase is hoping Castleford can make the play-offs and follow a similar path.
"If we put ourselves in the play-offs any team can do anything once you get there," he added. "We've just got to make sure we get there. We've not set any goals but I'm pretty sure as individuals we'll be striving for finals.
"For us it's about being consistent and giving ourselves a chance to get there (the play-offs) first.
"Last year was a poor, poor performance all round. We can't wait to get this year started and put that behind us. We can't really do any worse than what we did last year. The only way is up."
At the end of the Super League season comes the 2013 World Cup in England and while Chase is focusing on performing well for the Tigers, he has one eye on taking on Australia and New Zealand.
"I'm just fully-focused on Cas. I know that if I do my job here then good things will come," he concluded. "I'd love a crack at the Kiwis and Aussies.
"They are the top teams. You want to play against the top teams. For any player you want to play at the highest level, but I'm just focusing on my job here."
