The City Reds are keen to strengthen for the 2014 campaign, when they will be known as the Red Devils, and see the 27-year-old half-back as a potential new recruit.
Head coach Brian Noble has opted for experience next season with the likes of Francis Meli and Adrian Morley signed up as the club, backed by owner Marwan Koukash, seek to mount a play-off challenge.
In February then Tigers coach Ian Millward announced the West Yorkshire club had turned down a bid from Salford and the club on Monday admitted they had received a new offer from the Reds.
However, it seems their quest to bring in Chase will not be finalised just yet after Castleford snubbed their bid, stating that they see him as an important player for the future.
"Castleford Tigers can confirm that it has turned down an offer from Salford City Reds for Rangi Chase," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Following a meeting with Salford on Monday, the board rejected the offer as it was way below the club's valuation of him.
"The club would like to keep hold of Rangi as he is an integral part of the club's plans for the future.
"Castleford Tigers will make no further comment at this time."
Chase, who was named Super League's Man of Steel in 2011, came close to joining Hull FC last season only for the move to be scuppered by visa issues. A possible switch to former club St George Illawarra also failed to materialise.
