The 31-year-old Australian played for the West Yorkshire club in 2008 and was their leading scorer with 19 tries in 26 appearances.
Dorn has also played for the Salford City Reds in Super League and has an impressive total of 124 tries in 200 top-flight appearances.
"I absolutely loved my time at Cas and I'm very, very excited about coming back," he told the club's official website. "Had circumstances been a little bit different at the time I think that I probably wouldn't have left.
"I really can't wait to come back and my family are looking forward to getting back up there; it's very exciting for us. I really loved the whole environment at Castleford last time; personally I had a decent year and although we didn't as a team results wise, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
"The fans were brilliant and the boys were great so it's somewhere that I have really fond memories of and I'm looking forward to rekindling that.
"I loved playing at Cas; it brought out something in my game that was pretty unique. Even when I've gone back to the Jungle in previous years I've been quite successful for London.
"I'm really looking forward to putting the jumper on again and scoring my first try at the Wheldon Road End. I have scored a few tries down that end that are very memorable for me and hopefully I can build on that and get a few more."
Tigers head coach Daryl Powell is a massive fan of Dorn's ability and believes the experienced Aussie will bring leadership skills to the club.
"Luke is a player that I have admired for a long time," said Powell.
"His ability to play at half-back or full-back is massive and his leadership qualities and experience make him a key recruitment for us next season.
"I look forward to working with a quality individual who I know will drive our standards."
