Kieran Foran has pulled out of New Zealand's squad to face Australia next week because of personal issues.

The Kiwis will be without the half-back for the Test against their fierce rivals after he was stood down indefinitely by Parramatta to deal with a private matter.

Sydney's Daily Telegraph reported the 25-year-old spent time in hospital this week and the Eels confirmed on Thursday the player will seek medical treatment.

A statement from the club said: "The Parramatta Eels have granted Kieran Foran an indefinite leave of absence to seek the best possible medical treatment regarding a personal matter.

Foran, who has played 20 times for the Kiwis since making his debut in 2009, missed the 2015 Test series against England through injury and will sit out the clash in Newcastle next Friday.
