The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has launched the 'Meet Your Inner Warrior' campaign, aimed at encouraging more women and girls to take up contact rugby.
As part of the campaign, 100 'Warrior Camps' will take place in rugby clubs across the country from January 19-29, offering fun rugby taster sessions for women who want to try out the sport before joining their local club.
The Warrior Camps will teach participants key introductory skills and drills for rugby, with help on hand every step of the way. All people need to take part are a pair of trainers and their usual workout gear.
"We set ourselves an ambitious target when launching our women and girls strategy in 2014; to get 25,000 women participating in contact rugby," said Steve Grainger, RFU Rugby Development Director.
"Despite the ever-growing appetite for the sport that we have witnessed through achieving our target one year ahead of schedule, we know there is still work to be done to ensure women are aware of the opportunities out there for them to participate in rugby, whether for fun or at a competitive level.
"The upcoming 'Warrior Camps' are a great chance for newcomers or returning players to take part in the sport through fun and informal sessions to encourage them to pursue it further."
