Samu Kerevi has been dropped in one of three changes to the Australia side for Saturday's Rugby Championship game against New Zealand in Dunedin.

Kerevi's place at outside centre has gone to Tevita Kuridrani, who replaced him at half-time during last weekend's 54-34 defeat to the All Blacks in Sydney.

Rob Simmons comes in for Rory Arnold in the second row, while Dane Haylett-Petty has recovered from a bicep injury and returns on the wing in place of Curtis Rona.

Wallabies head coach Michael Cheika said: "You see how highly we rate Samu by putting him straight in after a bit of a layoff after Super Rugby with injuries, and maybe we did him a bit of a disservice by picking him too soon.

"Maybe he needed another week or two of preparation to get exactly right to play his best rugby."

Haylett-Petty will start on the right wing this weekend, with Henry Speight switching to the left.

Cheika said: "For a guy who is still quite young in his international career he's certainly put a mark on the game and he would have been selected last week if he was fit.

"He's got good back-field work and now that he's back and fit I think it was an easy selection."

New Zealand named their side on Wednesday, but Owen Franks has since withdrawn with an Achilles problem.

Nepo Laulala will come into the starting XV alongside hooker Dane Coles, back after battling injury for much of the year.
