Stand-in Scotland prop Geoff Cross has vowed not to become a one-Test wonder when he makes his debut against Wales on Sunday.
Edinburgh prop Cross has been selected to start Scotland's RBS Six Nations opener at Murrayfield after star tight-head Euan Murray was ruled out with a rib injury.
Murray's performances at No.3 have made him one of, if not the, first name on the Scotland team sheet over the last two years.
Such eye-catching displays have also seen the Northampton prop widely tipped to be named in Ian McGeechan's British and Lions squad to take on South Africa in the summer.
Cross, meanwhile, is a Test novice and will be experiencing his first taste of international rugby in Edinburgh on Sunday.
While admitting Murray is "a tough act to follow", Cross said: "This is an opportunity for me to show what I can contribute to the team's performance and I've just got to knuckle down and take that opportunity, and let everyone else judge and decide."
And the 26-year-old was unflustered by claims Murray would walk back into the side when fit.
"That's really not my concern at the moment. My concern is that I have an opportunity," he said.
"What will be after that, will be."
