Wasps and former England captain Phil Vickery has given his seal of approval after the London club completed the signing of Leicester wing Tom Varndell.
The Tigers flyer is one of three new players arriving at Adams Park next season, with centre Steve Kefu and number-eight Dan Ward-Smith also penning deals with the reigning Guinness Premiership champions.
Wasps are currently languishing in ninth-place in the domestic league and face a desperate challenge if they are to sneak into the play-off shake-up.
However, not prepared to relinquish their league title without a fight, captain Vickery insists he and his team-mates are determined to finish the current season with a flourish.
"We don't want to be in this position, this club is not used to being in this position and we will be doing everything we can to get back up there." Vickery told Sky Sports News.
On new signing Varndell, Vickery added: "Tom Varndell in this environment will really prosper and I hope we can get his game back on track and give him opportunities to show what he can do.
"He has shown when he is on top form that he is one of the best in the country."
England and Wasps team-mate Paul Sackey shares Vickery's frustration, and the 24-year-old winger is hoping to revive hopes of a final appearance with a winning end to the season.
"Ever since I've been here, I've always been in a final at some point so it will be weird if we are not this year," said Sackey.
And when asked who was quicker on the ground out of he and new recruit Varndell, Sackey, who is currently sidelined with a calf strain, said: "He is at the moment because I can't run!
"That is the question that everyone is going to ask but every winger out there is quick else they wouldn't be a winger, so I don't know."
