Springbok scrum-half Fourie du Preez has signed a contract to stay with the Blue Bulls until the end of 2010, ending speculation that he would head overseas after the British & Irish Lions tour this year.
Du Preez said he had been in Pretoria all his life and he firmly believed that the Bulls would again be one of the leading teams in world rugby.
"There have been a lot of challenges lately and I did consider playing abroad after receiving a number of huge offers but my goal is to once again establish myself as the country's first-choice scrum-half," he said.
"I desperately want to play for the Springboks against the British and Irish Lions in 2009 and the only way I will be able to do that is through consistently good performances in the Currie Cup and Super 14."
