Young stars pen new deals at Saracens

Full-back Alex Goode and openside flanker Andy Saull have signed new three-year contacts at Saracens. Both Goode and Saull have developed through the club's academy and have been ever-present for Saracens this season. Director of rugby Brendan Venter is delighted with the new deals, highlighting the stability the club is creating. He said: "These long term contracts, and others to be announced in the coming days and weeks, are fantastic for the club - they are like giant stakes in the ground, underpinning our future. "We are working hard to build something special at this club, on and off the field." Venter insists both 21-year-old players have the capability to play for England one day. "Alex and Andy are two exceptionally talented and determined young players, who arrived in our Academy as exciting prospects and have developed into respected Premiership players."

Potential

"There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that both have the potential to play for England," he added. Goode made his debut at the end of last year, with his broken field running crucial to Saracens attacking play. Goode said: "There is a great sense of stability at the club and we also have a fantastic squad. Everything about Saracens is geared up for success and I want to be part of that." Saull who is combining his rugby with a part-time degree in Financial Economics at Birkbeck College in London, believes spirit couldn't be any higher in the squad. "Anyone who has visited our training ground in St Albans this season would have experienced the atmosphere and collective spirit among the players, coaches and staff. This is a very special place to be, and that made it a very easy decision," Saull said.
