The Ospreys have received mixed news about two Wales props - with Adam Jones set to return while Duncan Jones replaces him in the treatment room.
Duncan Jones is set to be sidelined for at least six weeks after he suffered a fracture to a tarsal bone in his right foot which occurred during Ospreys' Magners League win against Munster at the Liberty Stadium on December 5.
Ospreys physio Chris Towers confirmed that a CT scan revealed the fracture, meaning the 31-year-old will not play again until the new year.
He said: "The medical advice is to keep him off the injured foot for six weeks to allow the bone to heal. Once it is confirmed that the bone has healed, we will then move him onto a progressive return to playing."
However the loss of Duncan Jones is off-set by the return of his namesake Adam Jones, who is returning ahead of schedule after recovering from shoulder surgery to repair damage sustained on Lions duty in South Africa during the summer.
The 28-year-old is now likely to feature in Ospreys team for their home match against Viadana in the Heineken Cup.
Towers said: "Adam returned to full training at the end of last week, including contact, without any reaction, which is obviously excellent news.
"We are now looking to involve him in a normal rugby programme in training, which will see him available for selection against Viadana at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday."
