Australia lock ruled out clash with Ireland

Nathan Sharpe has joined Australia's growing injury list after he was ruled out Saturday's one-off Test against Ireland with a back problem. Sharpe had impressed in the two Tests against England, however he suffered a twinge in his lower back during training on Tuesday and has now been forced to sit out the match in Brisbane. Sharpe now joins the likes of Benn Robinson, Stephen Moore, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Ben Alexander, James Horwill, Wycliff Palu, Digby Ioane and Will Genia in the treatment room. Mark Chisholm, an 82-cap Test veteran, comes into the Wallabies squad to replace Sharpe with Mitchell Chapman set to make his debut off the bench. There has been some good news for the Wallabies after it was revealed Ioane does not need surgery on the shoulder he dislocated against England. The powerful winger fell awkwardly on his left shoulder during the 21-20 defeat in Sydney - and although he was initially told he would miss the Tri-Nations, a subsequent scan has revealed the injury is not as bad as first feared.
