Stuart-Smith and Walker join National One champions

Esher have made a double swoop ahead of their Championship campaign with the signings of Clive Stuart-Smith and Alex Walker. Scrum-half Stuart-Smith, who has been capped by England Saxons, will make the switch following his release by Premiership new-boys Exeter, while hooker Alex Walker was let go by Newcastle at the end of last season. Stuart-Smith, who has previously played for Leeds, Worcester and Llanelli, will be a direct replacement for Garrick Cowley, who headed in the opposite to Sandy Park. Walker, who made 15 appearances for the Falcons last season, will compete with Kevin Corrigan and James Campbell for the No.2 jersey. Esher team manager Dave Page said: "Alex and Clive have fitted in really well in training and have gelled with the other players already. "We have been back in training since early June and our fitness coach Simon Elkinson is working hard with the squad and they are looking sharp." Stuart-Smith and Walker will join the likes of Mike Whitehead, Arran Cruickshanks, Chris Rowlands, Darren O'Reilly, Phil Mackenzie, Ricky Nebbett, Karl Rudzki, James Waterhouse, Darren Clayton and Geoff Griffiths at the National One champions for the coming season.
