Wales boss Warren Gatland might finally have some good news on the injury front after it was revealed that Lee Byrne could make his return sooner than expected.
The Ospreys full-back appeared set to miss the first three of Wales' autumn internationals against Australia, South Africa and Fiji after breaking a bone in his hand last weekend.
Byrne was also said to be only an outside bet to make the fourth and final Test against New Zealand. However, ahead of a visit to see a specialist next Monday, it is now thought he might be available for the visit of the Springboks on November 13.
Besides Byrne, Gatland has already lost two other British and Irish Lions - Leigh Halfpenny and captain Ryan Jones - from the Millennium Stadium clash against Australia on November 6.
Jonathan Davies, meanwhile, suffered an ankle injury on Wednesday and could also struggle to make the Wallabies encounter.
The Scarlets centre, widely expected to fill one of the centre positions against Australia, suffered an ankle injury during training at the Wales squad's base in the Vale of Glamorgan.
