Scott MacLeod will miss Scotland's final EMC Autumn Test against Samoa after picking up a rib injury in the win over South Africa on Saturday.
The Edinburgh lock made his first Scotland start in over two years as Andy Robinson's side claimed a surprise 21-17 victory against the Springboks at Murrayfield.
But MacLeod did even make it to half-time as he was forced off with the problem which will now rule him out of the clash with Samoa at Pittodrie.
Prop Allan Jacobsen - an Edinburgh team-mate of MacLeod's - is also an injury doubt for the contest after suffering a shoulder injury against South Africa.
Jacobsen disrupted the world champions' scrum throughout the match and his absence would be a big blow as Scotland try to claim a fifth win in six Tests.
"Scott MacLeod, the 31-year-old Edinburgh lock, has been ruled out of Saturday's final EMC Autumn Test - against Samoa in Aberdeen," a Scottish Rugby Union statement read.
"MacLeod damaged his ribs in the first half of yesterday's 21-17 victory against South Africa at Murrayfield.
"Scotland team doctor James Robson confirmed today that the injury means MacLeod cannot be considered for the game against the Pacific islanders.
"Robson also reported that prop Allan Jacobsen, who won his 49th cap at the weekend, has a shoulder injury which will require further assessment over the next few days."
