Australia lock's record run ended

Nathan Sharpe's record of 53 successive games for Western Force is to come to an end after he damaged his right ankle injury. The Australia lock suffered the problem when landing awkwardly during the Force's game against the Reds on Saturday. Sharpe was forced off the field in just the 24th minute, with subsequent scans revealing ligament damage. That means the 33-year-old is facing two weeks on the sidelines, ending his participation in this year's Super Rugby competition. Sharpe has been an ever-present in the Force team since the second round of matches in the 2008 season, with the run taking him past Tai McIsaac's previous record.
