Barkley, who won 23 caps for England and played at the 2007 World Cup, made 16 appearances for Racing after joining as a medical joker from Bath in September.
However with Jonathan Sexton set to team up with the Parisians in the summer, Barkley has now opted to extend his French adventure with Grenoble.
The 31-year-old, who scored 52 points last season, has signed a two-year deal with Grenoble.
