Former Munster fly-half Paul Warwick is to join the Worcester Warriors coaching set-up as they seek an immediate Premiership return.

The 33-year-old Australian moved to Sixways at the start of last season, making 20 appearances for Worcester before having to retire.

He eventually had to hang up his boots because of a neck injury, but he will now work alongside director of rugby Dean Ryan and the coaching staff of the club.

He had previously spent time playing for Connacht and Stade Français, as well as his spell with Munster.

"I am delighted to be given the opportunity to work with this season's playing squad alongside an array of experienced coaches," said Warwick.

"I will be aiming to pass on my rugby knowledge to the current players, while learning my trade as a coach as part of the backroom team."

Warriors director of rugby Ryan welcomed the new addition to his backroom staff.

"Paul has enjoyed a distinguished career in professional rugby and he will now focus his attentions on working with current players and supporting our coaching staff to impart the knowledge he has built-up," he added.
