The RFU has given its backing to Eddie Jones and has no plans to reconsider his contract in the wake of England's series defeat to South Africa.

Jones is facing growing pressure as head coach following England's run of six consecutive defeats, culminating in a 23-12 loss to the Springboks on Saturday.

England are set to drop to sixth in the world rankings after the loss in Bloemfontein but the RFU is not yet considering a change of head coach, with the 2019 World Cup in Japan now on the horizon.

A spokesperson told Sky Sports News: "The RFU supports Eddie Jones and his coaching team."

England trail South Africa 2-0 in the three-match series ahead of the final Test in Cape Town on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Main Event.

Jones has called on his side to show pride in their next performance to avoid a series whitewash in South Africa.

"I'm obviously very disappointed. We started the game well but it was a bit like a horror movie," said Jones, after the defeat in Bloemfontein.
