Matt Cornwell and Will Skinner have plenty riding on Tom Varndell's England debut.
Tom Varndell's involvement in the England setup against Samoa is attracting a host of interest from rugby fans, but two individuals in particular will be watching with keen interest.
Leicester Tigers teammates Matt Cornwell and Will Skinner have more than their colleague's success at heart on Saturday, as one of them stands to become £50 poorer.
Cornwell explains: "We took a bet a while ago about Tom. I said he'd play for England, in a test match, before the end of this season. If he gets on, on Saturday, I win £50 and I'll give it to the Matt Hampson Trust Fund."
Skinner meanwhile, remembers their original agreement slightly differently, claiming that the money all relies on Varndell's participation in the forthcoming fixture.
"I'm not sure if Matt realises, but I said this year, not this season! Tom has to get on against Samoa; otherwise Matt's got to pay the £50 into Hambo's Trust Fund."
Varndell has risen to international stardom after a blistering start to the season, which has seen the youngster notch up six tries in seven appearances.
The 20-year-old is seen by many as the answer to England's lack of invention and dynamism in the back division, with Sky Sports' experts Stuart Barnes and Dewi Morris labelling him the 'one to watch' over the next year.
