Six Nations: Warren Gatland makes six changes to Wales team to face Scotland

Wales coach Warren Gatland has made six changes to his side for Saturday's Six Nations clash with Scotland.

Gatland's hopes of guiding the team to a third consecutive title were dashed by last week's defeat to England, and he has made six changes for the tournament finale in Cardiff.

Fly-half Rhys Priestland, hooker Richard Hibbard and prop Adam Jones have all been benched following the disappointing 29-18 defeat at Twickenham.

Dan Biggar takes over the No 10 shirt from Priestland, while Hibbard and Jones have been replaced in the front row by Scarlets forwards Ken Owens and Rhodri Jones.

Leigh Halfpenny faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a dislocated shoulder against England, and Gatland has named Liam Williams as his starting full-back.

Rhys Webb's ankle injury has led to the experienced Mike Phillips being recalled at scrum-half, and lock Luke Charteris has passed a fitness test on his neck injury and comes in for Jake Ball.

Owens and Rhodri Jones will pack down alongside Gethin Jenkins, who will set a new Wales record at the Millennium Stadium as he earns his 105th international cap.

Positive note

Wales have not lost at home to Scotland since 2002, and Gatland has urged his players to finish a disappointing competition on a positive note.

"Saturday is an opportunity for us to put in a performance we know we can, and finish the Six Nations on a high," Gatland said.

"We've made a number of changes and freshened things up with a just a six-day turnaround between matches.

"Liam and Mike come in, with Leigh and Rhys ruled out, and Dan Biggar gets his opportunity at fly-half.

"In the front row, Ken Owens and Rhodri Jones get their chance to start after impressing off the bench, and it's good to have Luke back from injury in the second row.

"Scotland will come looking to play some rugby. They had a morale-boosting win against Italy and were unlucky to lose against France in recent weeks.

"We will be looking for a more accurate execution this week to finish with a win at home in Cardiff."
