Harlequins prop Joe Marler has had his ban for striking an opponent reduced from three weeks to two following a Rugby Football Union appeal hearing.
The 21-year-old was handed his initial suspension after being found guilty of the offence during the Aviva Premiership clash against London Irish on the opening day of the new season.
However Marler chose to appeal against the decision and his case was heard by Independent Judicial Officer Gareth Rees QC at Twickenham.
He has now had his original ban reduced by a week, meaning he will be available to play again on September 27.
An RFU statement read: "Joe Marler's suspension for striking an opponent on the opening day of the Aviva Premiership season was today reduced from three to two weeks on appeal."
