England international No 8 Ben Morgan has agreed a new contract with Aviva Premiership club Gloucester.

Morgan, who has won 31 caps and was a member of England's World Cup squad last year, joined Gloucester from Scarlets in 2012.

The 27-year-old has joined team-mates Willi Heinz and Billy Burns in signing new terms at Kingsholm.

"Ben expressed his desire to stay at the club and we are thrilled that we were able to agree a new deal which will hopefully see him continue to develop even further in a Gloucester shirt," said Gloucester rugby director David Humphreys.

"We feel that the back-row is an area of strength for us, and with the addition of Carl Fearns for next season, Ben will be a key part of that unit, bringing real leadership skills to the group."

Morgan, meanwhile, told the club's website: "It's great to be part of this club, and it's my local club that means a lot to me.

"I am absolutely over the moon to sign a new deal. I grew up supporting Gloucester, and it is a special place to play.
