James Hook says he has made the ‘right choice’ after invoking a relegation release clause from French Top 14 club Perpignan to join Gloucester.
The Wales playmaker joined Perpignan in 2011 from Ospreys, but decided to leave after the Catalan club suffered Top 14 relegation this term.
The 28-year-old is understood to have agreed a three-year deal and will tour South Africa with Wales before assuming Gloucester's frontline fly-half duties from next season.
You know the option doesn’t come around that often so I think for me going to Gloucester was the right choice.

While Hook concedes his Wales prospects may be damaged by moving from Perpignan, he was attracted by playing in the Aviva Premiership for the first time.
Hook told Sky Sports: “I’m trying not to think too much about that. Obviously, just playing week in, week out for a good club is obviously a big draw as well and hopefully I can keep up playing international rugby at the same time.
“I think coming back to Wales, maybe the timing wasn’t quite right just now.
