Wasps hooker looks for call-up to full national squad

England Saxons hooker Rob Webber has been rewarded for his impressive form with a new two-year deal. The Yorkshire-born 23-year-old, who captained Wasps against Gloucester, has made 50 appearances in the Premiership since coming through the club's academy set-up. And Webber is now hoping he can push on and force his way into the full England squad. "I'm really happy to have signed with Wasps for two more years," he said. "It's a really good place to develop, learn, and be challenged with the quality of the players and the coaches at the club. "There's been a lot of change at the club over the last season and it has been a really positive environment, which I've enjoyed being a part of. "I want to continue to be a part of that and, with the amount of opportunities I have already had with Wasps, I think this is a great environment for me to continue to develop and push for senior England honours over the next two years." Wasps chief Tony Hanks has backed Webber to make the step up to Martin Johnson's squad. "We are delighted that Rob Webber has re-signed with the club for a further two years," he said. "He is extremely dedicated, determined to be successful and has developed into a real leader within this playing group. He adds a great deal to this squad, not only with his skill and dedication on the pitch but through his passion for the club and commitment to its values. "He has a very bright future ahead of him and we are pleased that it will continue to be in black and gold as he progresses with his own England aspirations. He is a very motivated individual and I have every confidence he will be pushing for a senior England place in the near future."
