The former Gloucester star sustained the injury during the 24-6 defeat to Aviva Premiership leaders Northampton last Friday.
Wasps boss Dai Young confirmed that Bailey, 29, will undergo surgery.
The Welshman added: "We all know how hard he has worked over the summer months to get back to fitness after a shoulder injury he had in France, so everyone really feels for him."
A series of narrow early-season defeats means the London club lie third from bottom of the table.
