Leicester Tigers flanker Mike Williams has been ruled out of England's autumn series after breaking his arm.

The 24-year-old suffered a broken arm in the warm-up ahead of last Saturday's win over Worcester Warriors and now faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

Williams suffered his latest setback in a tackle drill with centre Matt Toomua and was pulled from the starting line-up by Leicester's medical staff.

"Mike felt he had done something but thought it was just a bang," said Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill. "But the medical guys looked at it and Mike was pulled out before the kick-off.

"He is in a cast and will take some specialist advice. But it looks like 8-12 weeks out - not 4-6 because of the history of the injury."

Williams was being considered at openside flanker by Eddie Jones but he will now miss England's four games against South Africa, Fiji, Argentina and Australia next month.

Cockerill added: "Mike is bitterly disappointed. You would have thought that had he continued the way he has been doing for the last couple of weeks he would have had a chance to play for England."
