The Sharks will be looking to bounce back from an away defeat to Northampton last time out, meaning they have won two and lost two so far at the start of the new domestic season.
Steve Diamond has made several changes to the line-up that went down 33-14 at Franklin's Gardens, including recalling Dwayne Peel at scrum-half.
Rob Miller switches from the wing to full-back, taking over from Tom Arscott, while Jonny Leota's selection at inside centre allows Mark Cueto to return to his more customary position out wide.
The solitary alteration for Sale in the pack sees Jonathan Mills take over from Kirill Kulemin in the second row.
Bath, meanwhile, will hand first starts this season to Ross Batty, Ollie Devoto and Will Spencer at the AJ Bell Stadium.
Hooker Batty comes in up front to play between props Paul James and David Wilson, while lock Spencer partners club captain Stuart Hooper in the second row.
Devoto, a member of England's Under-20s World Championship-winning side, gets the nod at full-back in a back three that sees Tom Biggs replace the injured Matt Banahan on the left wing.
Carl Fearns and Ben Williams are on the bench but the visitors are without Banahan, Dave Attwood, Rob Webber, Dominic Day, and Anthony Watson.
Bath's league form away from the Rec has been miserable - they have won just once on their travels since the opening round of last season, with that coming at new boys Newcastle in their first fixture of the 2013/14 campaign.
