Gerrard next for new ACT deal

Australia winger Mark Gerrard has signed a three-year extension with the Brumbies.

Australia winger Mark Gerrard has signed a three-year contract extension with Super 14 club the ACT Brumbies.

The 24-year-old, who has played 18 Tests for Australia, has followed the lead of Wallabies team-mate Mark Chisholm, who signed a two-year deal on Wednesday.

"I've loved the last five years in Canberra, I love being a Brumby and I love the exciting brand of football we play here," Gerrard said.

Gerrard helped the Brumbies to win the Super 12 competition in 2004, scoring a hat-trick of tries in the final against the Crusaders, but he believes his game has since gone from strength to strength.

"My game has developed out of sight as a result of being part of the Brumbies programme and it just didn't make sense to go anywhere else," he said.

"While there were offers from elsewhere, I knew that my future was always with the Brumbies."
