Scotland No.8 Richie Vernon has agreed a two-year deal to join Sale from Glasgow Warriors next season.
Vernon, who came off the bench in the Calcutta Cup defeat to England at Twickenham, has gained a reputation as one of Scotland's most athletic forwards.
The 23-year-old, who made his name on the Sevens circuit before being called into the full national side, is the latest forward to join the Sharks - with executive director Steve Diamond thrilled to have bolstered his pack further.
Diamond told the official Sale site: "I am delighted that Richie is joining us. He is part of the current Scotland squad and played very well when he came on in the Calcutta Cup game at the weekend.
"He is a hard working flanker or No.8 and he will fit in very well with my plans for next season and beyond."
Vernon admits he was sold on the move by Diamond's visions to revive Sale's fortunes in the Premiership.
"Steve Diamond is very clear on the way forward for Sale Sharks and I am delighted to commit myself to the club for the next two seasons," said Vernon.
"Having broken into the Scotland side I see playing in the Aviva Premiership as a challenge that will only improve me as a player."
Vernon will join Kris Chesney, Mark Easter, Kearnan Myall, Joe Ward and Tony Buckley in a new-look Sale pack next season.
The Sharks have also added Tasesa Lavea to the back division, with more signings expected in the coming weeks.
