McCabe incurred the injury in the Wallabies' 33-6 defeat in France in the opening contest of their autumn tour of Europe.
That ruled him out of the game with England at Twickenham and he will now be on the sidelines until February.
McCabe's place in the squad will be taken by Melbourne Rebels centre Mitch Inman, who will join up with his team-mates for the games with Italy on 24 November and Wales a week later.
Inman will be joined by Melbourne second rower Caderyn Neville, who has flown out with him as cover for lock Kane Douglas, after he suffered a knee injury in the Paris defeat.
