Ulster have a host of players away on international duty, with the likes of Darren Cave, Craig Gilroy and fly-half Paddy Jackson given a chance in a second-string Ireland team to play Fiji in the non-cap match at Thomond Park.
Ireland boss Declan Kidney has however released props Tom Court and Declan Fitzpatrick and both men are named on the bench.
Michael Heaney and Niall O'Connor form the half-back partnership in Parma in the absence of the absent Paul Marshall and Ruan Pienaar, who played last time out against Edinburgh.
Michael Allen returns to the right wing for his first action since picking up an ankle injury against Cardiff Blues in September.
Chris Cochrane switches to the left flank in place of Gilroy and academy full-back Ricky Andrew will earn his second start.
Robbie Diack comes into the second row and the back row sees Nick Williams elevated to the starting team at blindside flanker.
The hosts name an unchanged pack but a reshuffled back-line following their narrow defeat to the Scarlets a fortnight ago.
Leonardo Sarto starts on the right wing and on the left wing there is a debut for Alessandro Castagnoli.
Daniel Halangahu is switched from midfield to fly-half in place of Alberto Chiesa, with Sam Pace moving from the left wing to midfield.
