Ospreys wing Hanno Dirksen has been handed a one-week ban after he was sent off in their Champions Cup victory over Northampton on Saturday.

The South African was given a red card in the closing stages of the 43-32 victory at Franklin's Gardens for a dangerous tackle on Saints' replacement centre Juan Pablo Estelles.

Dirksen was initially given a two-week ban by the independent Disciplinary Committee, with the offence deemed to be at the lower end of World Rugby's sanctions.

But the committee decided to halve the length of ban due to Dirksen's guilty plea and previously unblemished disciplinary record.

The 26-year-old is free to return to action on December 18, although both he and European Professional Club Rugby have the right to appeal the decision.

That rules him out of the return game with Northampton but leaves him free to play for Ospreys in their Boxing Day derby against Scarlets, live on Sky Sports.
