The Top 14 giants and Heineken Cup finalists have confirmed that the 29-year-old has signed a two-year contract.
A statement on the Toulon website read: "After Australian wing Drew Mitchell, South African Bryan Habana will garnish the ranks of the Red and Black for the next two seasons."
Habana has long been linked with a move to Toulon, leading to the South African Rugby Union removing him from their list of contracted players.
Habana has scored 47 tries in 83 international apperances for the Springboks, and he intends to remain available for selection despite not having his SARU contract renewed.
The Western Province and Stormers ace burst onto the world scene in South Africa's 2007 World Cup victory, his performances earning him the International Rugby Board player of the year title.
