Props Josh Bowden and Liam Watts have been included in Hull FC's squad for the visit of Castleford Tigers to the KC Stadium on Friday.

Neither player has featured this season but their chance comes after Hull lost at Widnes last week to drop to 12th in the Super League table.

Stand-off Daniel Holdsworth has recovered from the head injury that kept him out of the previous two matches but scrum-half Brett Seymour is on leave after being involved in a car crash.

"If it's all plain sailing, you don't really see the true character in people but I've seen the character we have in the squad this week, and I know we have plenty to work with," Hull coach Peter Gentle told the club's official website.

"Going through a bit of adversity has probably brought us a bit closer together as a group too, there's strength and unity there and we've got to turn that into a siege mentality and hopefully it will help us win some games.

"The players know last week's performance wasn't up to standard but it's what we do off the back of that now that matters.

"We know the fans deserve better but the main motivation is more self-pride than anything. We let ourselves down and the only way to fix that is to play better."

Same again

Castleford Tigers coach Ian Millward is set to stick with the team that was pipped 28-22 by Wigan last Sunday.

Winger James Clare has been included in the Tigers' initial 19-man squad for the first time this season but is likely to be surplus to requirements on match day.

Hull squad: Arundel, Briscoe, Bowden, Galea, Heremaia, Holdsworth, Horne, Houghton, Johnson, Lineham, Lynch, McDonnell, O'Meley, Pitts, Tickle, Watts, Westerman, Whiting, Yeaman

Castleford squad: Carney, Shenton, Webster, Dixon, Chase, Ellis, Clark, Huby, Gilmour, Hauraki, Millington, Emmitt, Milner, Massey, Holmes, Thompson, Tansey, Clare, Mason
